I'm not sure that I am convinced that being true to ones self is the same as knowing the truth or having knowledge that is justified or verified. Isn't it possible that even if I am being true to myself and you are being true to yourself that our truths may not be the same or don't match up with reality and then we are back to the problem of whos truth is true.

  1. I think it's a question of authenticity, of knowing what you truly believe in. Self-reflection and self-awareness require, it would seem, seeing yourself for who you really are, not who you'd like to think you are. Without a conception of truth as objective then such self-awareness would be impossible. Furthermore, self-awareness is a good thing; thus, truth is valuable. At least this is how I'm understanding Lynch's position.
